Dare To Swim is a national program that provides free swimming lessons to children of families who can’t afford them.

Dare to Swim is operated by the Anchored Dreams Foundation, Inc., a non-profit founded in 2005 by Atlanta businessman and Morehouse College alumnus, Isom B. Lowman Jr.

The mission of Dare to Swim is to save lives by providing free swimming lessons to children who may have never received them

  • Although swimming is a necessary life skill 64% of African-American children cannot swim. 

  • According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, every day there are nearly ten accidental drownings in the U.S.

    The fatal-drowning rate of Black/African-American children is three times higher than white children.

  • If a parent does not know how to swim, there is only a 13% chance that their child will learn how to swim.
